Jill Shalvis - Under the Mistletoe (Lucky Harbor Series Book # 6.5)

JUST ONE MORE KISS

There's no place like home for the holidays. And the Lucky Harbor Bed & Breakfast is bursting with festive lights and good cheer. But for Mia, Christmas is turning out to be anything other than merry and bright. Her recent break-up with her boyfriend Nick has made her return bittersweet. But then a surprise arrives, when Nick follows her to town bearing gifts-and asking for forgiveness.

Nick grew up without a family of his own so he's overwhelmed by the love that Mia receives from all her relatives, gathered together to celebrate the season. Under their watchful eyes, Nick finds earning back her trust the hardest thing he's ever had to do. If he succeeds, he will receive the greatest gift of all, Mia's love for a lifetime.

I actually didn't plan on reading any of the ".5" short stories in this series, but I grew a liking to Mia in Tara and Ford's story, The Sweetest Thing. She is the daughter that Ford and Tara gave up for adoption at birth, when they were only sixteen years old. I was totally not expecting Mia to become part of the story in The Sweetest thing, but am so glad that she did - and also happy she got a little story of her own, since she became such a staple in The Sweetest Thing and you wondered at the end what happens in her life.
If you are looking for a good book to pass and hour or two time, then grab a warm drink, a comfy blanket and read Under the Mistle toe - it's a short, short read but closes the book on the B&B girls and now the families they have all grown.

Jill Shalvis - Forever and a Day (Lucky Harbor Series Book #6)

LOVE CAN HAPPEN IN A HEARTBEAT.

Grace never thought she’d be starting her life over from scratch. Losing everything has landed her in Lucky Harbor, working as a dog walker for overwhelmed ER doctor Josh Scott. But the day his nanny fails to show up, Grace goes from caring for Josh’s lovable mutt to caring for his rambunctious kids. Soon Grace is playing house with the sexy single dad…

With so many people depending on him, Josh has no time for anything outside of his clinic and family–until Grace arrives in town. Now this brainy blond is turning his life inside out and giving a whole new meaning to the phrase “good bedside manner.” Josh and Grace don’t know if what they have can last. But in a town like Lucky Harbor, a lifetime of love starts with just one day…

Ohhh I just knew Grace Brooks and Dr. Josh Scott would steal my heart, make me melt and twist me up with JOY! I LOVED Forever and a Day and it definitely goes up in my top favorite books in the Lucky Harbor series. Grace is a go-getter kinda gal that had me rolling during her call waiting mix up between her rocket scientist mother and Dr. Josh - and I especially LOVED all of Josh's replies to her when she thought it was her mother on the line. I was literally rolling on the floor laughing.
Dr. Josh Scott is an over worked father to his five year old son and his handicapped, but hilarious to boot 21 year old sister. Anna (the sister) is such a big character in this book for me and I enjoyed reading her part. She brought a lot to the story and was a great addition to the plot ... and the way Grace reaches out to her is amazing - she keeps it real!
I also LOVE Josh's son Toby (ARF) he may not speak "English" too often, but when he does ... he too steals my heart!
From the starting stages of their relationship I loved how they communicated, flirted and saw each other. Josh takes on everyone's problems and wants to take care of everyone around him - when really deep down he is the one that needs the taking care of.  And to come into his life is a smart, beautiful Grace that is in Lucky Harbor to start her life over and move on and finally prove to her BRAINY parents that she too can be something.. Josh just happens to be that SOMETHING she needs.

5 STARS to an amazing story from Jill Shalvis - not only did she capture my attention but Forever and Day captured my heart a little. In Forever and Day you not only get humor, romance and heat up the sheets-burning hot love scenes, but you get a story that makes you want to never put down the book!

Jill Shalvis - At Last (Lucky Harbor Series Book #5)

HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.

A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

I was hoping to get more into this story in the Lucky Harbor series with At Last... but just couldn't find myself getting too fascinated with it. I liked Amy throughout the other stories as well as Matt, the sexy Forrest Ranger - but when their story actually came up.. I found it a bit boring. Don't get me wrong, there are some definite spicy scenes and cute moments - but it took me longer to read this book then it did the others.
The journey Amy goes on to find the peace and heart like her deceased grandma did all those years ago, I found to be tiresome. There just weren’t enough WOW moments for them to fall in love, connect and/or really date. Unlike the Trager sisters and their love stories, or even Mallory and Ty’s.. they had so many moments that took your breath away, made you riveted to the story and want to keep reading … but with this, it just seemed to be the same thing over and over again for me.
I give this book 3.5 stars with some 4 star love scenes!
I can’t wait to read Dr. Josh’s story... There is so much there that has been building up for him and Grace that I think it will be a great story line.

Sawyer Bennett - Off Sides

“I'm not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was the impossible expectations I faced, maybe it was my own self-loathing. But I just knew I needed something different to happen. I needed someone...something...to derail me from my current path. Otherwise, I would become lost...a hollowed out shell of a man. So I did it. I approached her, then I pursued her, then I made her mine. And my life was saved...”

Ryan Burnham is the privileged son of a U.S. Congressman and captain of his university’s hockey team. While he is on the verge of fulfilling his dreams to play in the NHL, his parents want him on a different course. One he is expected to accept for the sake of his family’s public image.

Forced her to abandon her music career after the heart breaking death of her parents, Danny Cross exists on the opposite side of the tracks from Ryan. She is struggling to make her own way, working two jobs, attending college part time and volunteering in a homeless shelter. She is on a mission to build her own success.

With a chance meeting, their vastly different worlds collide, causing each to evaluate whether they are truly on the correct path to self-fulfillment and happiness. Can their relationship survive? Particularly when others are against them every step of the way. A lot can happen in just ten short days..

WOW.. I was sooo not expecting much from this book... but did it not disappoint.  Off Sides by Sawyer Bennett is my first YA (Youth Adult) book that I've read. I usually try to stay away from these as they don't hold my interest or up to my scale on the sexy love scene's, but the further I got into Off Sides.. the more I liked it.
Ryan is a college hotty tottie with lots of money with snobby parents & younger sister. He is as well the captain of the Northeastern College NCAA hockey team and runs with his frat boys. One day while drunk and ending his night from a frat party.. they all stumble into a diner where he meets the funky, adorable and sassy waitress, Danny. Danny is brought into the story with knocking a snobby girl down a peg or ten and immeditably becomes the interest and infatuation of Ryan.
This book is about opposites attract, two people that come from completely different worlds - and to be honest, more than any story than I've ever read. It shows the restrains and complications that they have to go through to be together. The way fellow peers will put down and demolish things they don't agree with or they might not have the balls to reach for themselves.

I loved through this story how much Ryan sticks up for Danny and hurts for her when someone puts her down... but what I also enjoyed was how much she opens his eyes and views things he had never seen or even knew was going on around him. It also makes you think how many times these hot-preppy-too much money guys infatuate or are attracted to girls "beneath them", the rougher crowd.. and how much they actually do want them, yet are too afraid to even bother - unlike Ryan who sees's something that he wants, and although has a hard time with it and puts with a lot of shit for it, goes for what he wants.

The first time Ryan and Danny have sex.. is one of the most intense, sweetest love scenes I think I've ever read. Yes, there are definitely books that have more vulgar-ness and spicy love scenes.. but in Off Sides - I love how Sawyer Bennete writes the scene back and forth between Ryan and Danny narrating... it was simply amazing.

There are twists and turns through out the story that you would never expect and at one part I wanted to cry for Danny so much.. and wave my hands in the air proud of Ryan and his take control and take care of business attitude!

I actually enjoyed this book a lot and recommend it

Soroya Lane - Saved By The Rancher

Can anyone heal this rugged rancher’s broken heart?

Volunteer firefighter Jake McGregor can’t believe it when he arrives to the scene of a burning house, and finds out that someone in his small town has committed arson. When he looks into the frightened eyes of Faith Walker, he can’t imagine who would want to hurt her or her son, so why was the fire intentionally lit?

Faith has only been back in town a week, and already she’s wishing she’d never returned. Until handsome cowboy Jake rescues her and invites her to stay at his ranch, her old home town has been nothing short of unwelcoming. When she was sent away years ago, as a teenager and pregnant, she had hoped to never come back. Her dad turned his back on her, and she'd learned to fend for herself – the hard way.

Jake doesn’t particularly want a woman in his life, but he can’t turn Faith away. He’s been a bachelor since his fiancée died in a car crash five years before, and that’s how he wants to stay. Even if staying away from Faith starts to feel like the hardest task he’s ever endured…

Can anyone heal this rugged rancher’s broken heart?
I found this book to be a bit boring and pretty predictable. I knew everything would move pretty quickly, considering it was a short story and that is how they usually move along - but this one was just too fast paced in a romance and went exactly how you would think it would go, with out any surprise. It was an easy read - didn't necessarily hold my interest and the only "off throwing" part of the book, really wasn't that off throwing.
Jake is a volunteer firefighter, who is not played up much in the sexy department. He has weird mood swings through out the story, but once they have a bit of chemistry it's like everything about him changed, and he was suddenly "funny", but really not to me.
Faith just didn't interest me.. I didn't find anything that stood out from either of these characters
Saved by the Rancher was a book to past time, and I'm glad it was a short story... I don't think I would have hung in for a full book.
2 STARS.

Jaci Burton - Dare to Love

A romantic game of chicken-and they're both too stubborn to flinch. Lucy Fairchild, lawyer and heiress to the Fairchild fortune, has just had the worst day of her life. Her father has found the perfect man for her to marry. Yes, she's thirty and single, but that doesn't give her father the right to run her life. She'll choose her own husband-someday. Jake Dalton is struggling to make his fledgling construction company a success. Ever mindful of his father's derogatory comments that he'd never amount to anything, he's spent his entire life trying to prove he's not a failure. From their first meeting on a construction site, verbal sparks fly. Their argument escalates into a dare for a date-and the game is on. Lucy thinks Jake is the perfect fake boyfriend to parade around in the hopes of getting her father off her back. Jake is amused by the chance to annoy both Lucy and her dad-he doesn't intend to take the dating thing seriously. But the heart is a fickle thing, and not above playing dirty. In their quest to prove something-to each other, or maybe to themselves-they find themselves building a case.for love. And suddenly all the rules have changed. Warning: This book does NOT contain hot monkey lovin', threesome action or anyone swinging from the chandeliers (sorry 'bout that). It does contain sexy romancin' on a trampoline under the stars, fun one liners, a dog named Rascal and a smokin' hot construction worker named Jake that the author is convinced you're going to fall madly in love with. She dares you to read it

Dare to Love was my first experience with Jaci Burton novels. I have had Play by Play series in my "to read" list for a long time now ... but have never gotten around to actually purchasing them. When I found Dare to Love on sale through amazon.com for only
$2.50, I figured why not pick it up and see if I even liked her writing style before spending $9.99 on her other three books I want to read. Well, she did not disappoint... I'm glad to say that Jaci Burton's writing sense is a lot like the other authors that I love and read.

In Dare to Love you read about a smokin' hot contractor (whom I already gush over sexy contractors as it is) that finds a sexy little tigress on his construction site one day, Lucy. She sparks something in him immediately that makes him want to mess with her, but deep down sparks with her as well!
On the other hand you have high class, lawyer Lucy Fairchild who is liking what she see's and is up for the challenge, she thinks?

I enjoyed  Dare to Love.. it was cute, funny at times and ohhh was her father one of the best villains I've read on paper. He was manipulated, lying and snarky... she wrote him so well - I just hated him!

One thing I truly liked about  this book was the no beating around the bush (no pun intended) regarding their relationship.. the heroine wasn't wondering where they were at the whole book, and the lead male wasn't put off by actually saying what he felt... it was relieving to read something a little different.

I recommend Dare to Love - and look forward to reading more novels by Jaci Burton!

4 STARS

Jill Shalvis - Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor Series Book #4)

Mallory Quinn has had enough of playing it safe. As a nurse and devoted daughter, she takes care of everyone but herself. And as the local good girl, she's expected to date Mr. Right. But for once, she'd like to take a risk on Mr. Wrong. And who could be more wrong than Ty Garrison? The mysterious new guy in town has made it clear that he's only passing through, which suits Mallory just fine. Besides, his lean, hard body and sexy smile will give her plenty to remember once he's gone . . .
For the first time in his life, Ty can't bear to leave. Helping this sexy seductress-in-training walk on the wild side is making him desire things he shouldn?t?including leaving the military for good. As their just-for-fun fling becomes something more, Mallory and Ty wonder if they could really be this lucky in love. After all . . . anything can happen in a town called Lucky Harbor.

Take one sweet, innocent "goody" nurse and mix her with one bad ass, sexy and wild Navy Seal and what do you get.. a sexy, hot in your hands romance from once again my favorite author.. Jill Shalvis! OMG.. I loved Ty. Everything about his ways melted me, excited me and made me turning page after page to get more. Mysterious Cut Guy & Mallory had so much emotion, romantic chemistry in this story and so much humor and I loved every page of it.

So far in 2013 I have read 61 books... yup, I'm that girl! And to be honest, the ones in the beginng - just weren't hitting the spot on my top favorites, or even close to it. BUT thanks to Jill Shalvis and some of my other favorite authors for bringing me out of my slump ... and thank you Lucky Harbor for having me OBSESSED. I recommend this series to everyone - what's not to love?

5 STARS all the way around!

Jill Shalvis - Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor Series Book# 3)

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn't ready to settle into a quiet life running their family's newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble--and trouble with love-draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who'd like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can't take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe's colorful past keep her from a love that lasts . . . and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?

Chloe Trager has been one of my absolute favoite characters so far in the Lucky Harbor series. I love her caring, hilarious and wild ways! She is the wild child of the sisters and speaks what she wants, whenever she wants... and in Head over Heels - she does it specifically to one sexy Sheriff. Sawyer wasn't big in any of the other books.. so there wasn't much of a build up for him, but ohh how he melts you anways when he does make an appearance. Book 3 was amazing for me and I loved the chemistry that set off between then, and although they tried to fight it - sometimes there is just no resisting! The sex was on fire for them, the sisters were as funny as ever and Chloe stole my heart... as well as Sawyer! I think this has definitely been my favorite of the series so far, BUT I look forward to all the stories to come... even though none of the soon to be heroines have made an appearance in any of the books, well Amy a little - so we shall see!

5 STARS!
